DRAFTING CHECKER

The Drafting Checker role is a full-time position. In this role, the Drafting Checker will support the drafting team and broader project group by reviewing technical drawings, fabrication drawings, construction packages, models and related documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, constructability, and compliance with company standards, client requirements, and applicable codes.

This role is ideal for someone with strong drafting experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to identify issues before drawings are released for fabrication, construction, or client review.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review and check drawings for accuracy, completeness, clarity, and compliance with project requirements.

  • Verify dimensions, annotations, scales, layouts, section/detail references, bill of materials, and drawing notes.

  • Check drawings against design inputs, client standards, engineering markups, specifications, and internal drafting standards.

  • Identify drafting errors, omissions, inconsistencies, and constructability concerns.

  • Provide clear redlines and feedback to drafters and designers.

  • Ensure drawing packages are coordinated across disciplines where applicable.

  • Confirm revisions, title blocks, drawing numbers, references, and issue statuses are correct.

  • Assist in maintaining drafting standards, procedures, templates, and quality control checklists.

  • Work closely with drafters, designers, project managers, engineers, and fabrication/construction teams.

  • Support continuous improvement of drafting quality and checking processes.

  • Review drawings prior to internal review, client submission, fabrication release, or construction issue.

Qualifications:

  • Post- secondary design drafting diploma or certificate in Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, CAD Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5+ years of drafting experience, with prior checking or senior drafting experience preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of technical drawing standards and best drafting practices.

  • Experience with AutoCAD required.

  • Experience with other drafting/design software is considered an asset.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, layouts, and fabrication details.

  • Strong understanding of drawing coordination, dimensioning, tolerances, and drawing presentation.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide constructive feedback.

  • Ability to manage multiple drawing packages and meet deadlines.

  • Experience in structural, civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, fabrication, or construction drawings considered an asset.
