SENIOR DESIGNER

The Senior Designer role is a full-time position. In this role, the Senior Designer will support the drafting team and broader project group by coordinating complex drafting activities, producing complete engineering drawing packages, and ensuring deliverables meet project, construction, and client requirements. The Senior Designer will also support management initiatives including mentorship, team development, and continuous improvement of drafting processes.
Job Responsibilities:
Coordination of Projects:
Coordinate drafting tasks assigned to the drafting team to ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality standards.
Assign work appropriately based on skill level and support the development of team members through progressive task allocation.
Amendment of Mark-Ups:
Complete accurate redrafting of design mark-ups while maintaining an understanding of the intent behind design changes.
Estimating:
Prepare and manage estimates for drafting and design tasks associated with assigned projects.
Mentorship:
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate drafters.
Support skill development and adherence to drafting standards within the team.
Production of Plot Plans:
Develop plot plans from piping designer models including rights-of-way, access roads, lease boundaries, and equipment layouts.
Ensure designs meet spacing and industry requirements.
Production of Drawing Packages:
Produce complete drawing packages using typical or previously approved designs, modifying layouts for new project requirements and reconfiguring piping systems as needed.
3D Modeling and Detailed Design:
Develop 3D models and construction drawings for headers and piping configurations, ensuring accuracy and completeness for review and construction.
As-Building:
Complete as-building of finished projects based on QC sketches and field data to reflect final constructed conditions.
Lead as-building efforts, including participation in field trips.
Project Execution & Time Management
Maintain accurate time entry and ensure alignment with project budgets and deadlines.
Communicate clearly with project managers regarding scope, timelines, and deliverables.
Qualifications:
Post- secondary design drafting diploma preferred.
A two-year program spanning both design principles and good drafting procedures for relaying of the mechanical design of a construction package. The program should leave the student with a complete understanding in both AutoCAD and Mechanical design principles.
Extensive Mech experience with an AutoCAD certificate.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Former EPC experience is an asset.
A minimum of 11 to 14 years of EPCM, energy, transmission pipeline, and/or petrochemical industry experience is required.
